Oh my………..I feel for you and have been there. Living in Canada helps people in similar situations because of our health care plan. Bulimia and annorexia (I have endured both) are, in simplest terms that I can relate to, our peculiar way to get control over things in our life that we are monumentally unhappy about. For me, talking regularly to a psychiatrist and then being put in the hospital (at 88 lbs) was the beginning of my healing.

You don’t have insurance and so therapy and/or treatment centres seem to be out of the question. You may have to hunt around for someone who can help for free.

Could you talk to your family doctor about the situation and see if he can get a referral?

I know you are not religious but there is nothing wrong with calling a few local churches and making an appointment to go and speak to one of the ministers for some counselling. If you speak to 4 or 5 such people, then maybe one of them will click with you on a personal level. No one says the church is going to expect you to go there and do nothing but pray. These ministers/pastors/priests/rabbis are well trained to listen and help those in need. Sometimes just being able to talk to someone who is not related to you can help immensely. It won’t happen overnight and you may be able to get things off your chest that are underlying causes for your eating disorder.

You need to find a professional person to speak to you . They do not judge you …they are there to listen and help.

You have already taken a huge step in acknowledging that there is a problem that you cannot fix yourself.
I wish you well in your search for a mentor.
